Job Title: Archival Intern


Reports to: Director
Location: Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park | 37 Christie Street | Edison, NJ 08820

 

Time Commitment: Part-time, two half days a week (Tuesday-Wednesday)

 

Job Description:


This role will assist in archiving objects and transferring digital data into the past perfect museum software program. It is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to gain experience and proficiency in area including (but not limited to) the following: learning, understanding and executing the system of archiving historical objects, and more.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

    • Students majoring in history, education, museum studies, American studies, or a related field is a good match for this internship. College degree or equivalent required.
    • Requisite experience or interest in museum or related field
    • Strong interest in archiving, managing collections
    • Ready to work in the museum and offsite storage facility
    • Ability to work independently as well as with a team

Time Commitment: Part-time, two – three half days a week (Thursday-Friday-Saturday)

 

Job Description:
This role will assist with the educational/ tour programs at the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park. It is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to gain experience and proficiency in a variety of areas including (but not limited to) the following: Educational Tours, Audience research, Public relations, Community engagement events, and more.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

    • Students majoring in history, education, museum studies, American studies, or a related fields are a good match for this internship. College degree or equivalent required.
    • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills (oral).
    • Strong interest in developing educational programs a plus.
    • College and master’s-degree students, as well as recent graduates of either undergraduate or graduate programs.
    • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
