Anniversary of the Perfected Incandescent Light Bulb

It was 137 years ago today, and into the early morning of October 22, 1879, that Thomas Edison and his wondrous team consisting of a physicist, machinist, engineer, carpenter, glass blower, blacksmith and others worked to improve the world they lived in. Although Patent Number 223,898 was issued to Thomas Edison on January 27, 1880, the experiments had been accomplished by Edison and his team to fruition, October, 1879. This first practical commercial incandescent light bulb becomes a reality at Menlo Park, located in Central New Jersey. Thomas Edison’s improvements to the incandescent light bulb and invention of the Phonograph in 1877 will always be remembered as Menlo Park inventions.
